The AUM vegetarian restaurant is
located within the old city on Moon Muang
Road just opposite Thaphae Gate or 'Patu
Thaphae', on the eastern city wall in Chiang Mai.
We began operations in 1982, which makes us one
of the oldest vegetarian restaurants of the more
than 20 here in Chiang Mai. Our all-vegetarian menu
offers our customers a variety of traditional Thai
and Chinese dishes made with fresh organic vegetables.
It is a small restaurant, with seating
for 12 on the ground floor with an upstairs dining
area (gangbon) available. The popular upstairs dining
area has 8 Thai-style low tables that seat about
20 people total. These tables have comfortable floor
cushions for seating where the waitresses join you
at your table to take the order. There are also
two 'western style' tables with additional seating.
The AUM has an organic coffee and
juice bar in the downstairs area, where you have
a choice of Hill Tribe Organic Coffee or fresh fruit
'smoothies'. We serve excellent fresh Pineapple,
Papaya, Banana and Mango (seasonal) along with homemade
yogurt 'lassies'. Toy has organic tomato juice available
here as well.
The AUM has a small but interesting
collection of second-hand books and maps for sale
or rent. E-mail services are available as well.
